Brazilian Police – to serve and protect? WHO?
Video 1 – Shooting and bombing students protesting against Bush’s visit to Brasil

Video 3 – Unprepared and violent police shoot and kill both kidnapper and victim.
This is how the brazilian police is trained to react in case of kidnapping. After the “sucessful” operation, State Secretary of Defense declared that the police acted correctly.
Note that the weapon found by the police and shown in the video was not declared by them on their final operation report.

Ten years ago, the police killed his 4 years old brother, his pregnant mother and the baby while they were driving to the hospital. The police said they were suspects.
Now, ten years after that sad incident, the police strikeds again and shot 17 times against his car, finally murdering him and his brother. The police again said they were suspects.
The one time I went to Brasil during carnaval the police where very intimidating but I’ve got to tell you as a tourist traveling solo I felt safer having them around. I did see them really bust up some kids but on the flip side I saw some kids busting up tourist too.
I’m sure the government officials tell them to kick ass so the tourist dollars keep coming in.
A vicious circle for sure.
